 Park-a-Pup is a smaller dog boarding facility conveniently located in Marin County, within the city of San Rafael at the junction of Hwy 101 and I-580. We are family owned and operated for 29 years. The current owners have decades of experience owning and operating successful boarding kennels in Marin and one of the owners worked for Guide Dogs for 20 years.

Our goal is to keep a limited amount of dogs at a time, enabling us to provide individual attention with a touch more personal care for each guest.

We offer several different styles of dog runs. Our main building provides individual indoor/outdoor and heated kennels totaling 12 feet. The inside area consists of a 4 foot unit with doggy-door leading to the outside cemented area of 8 feet. The dogs can decide when they want to go out or stay in.  A section of outdoor kennels are available of the same footage.

For extra large and multiple dog families, Park-a-Pup offers extra large gravel runs of 18 feet by 6 feet. Multiple and jumbo doghouses are provided for shelter.  All the kennels are covered and provide shade in the sumer.

A bed, a rug  and a toy can be brought along from home, so that your dog feels secure and comfortable with something from home.  We will provide food or you are welcome to bring your own special food from home while your dog stays with us. We are happy to feed what you bring at no extra charge. Please provide us with your dog's feeding schedule at time of drop-off.

Our play yard has fun time toys, balls, wading pool and other objects of interest. If you wish, we can throw the ball for Fido while he stays with us. 

Before you take Fido home, you can have him bathed and dried (dogs only) with a scheduled pick up time. We do not do clipping or trimming, but offer brushing and bathing. We will accept walk-ins for bathing when time permits. A phone call to check for available times is helpful. Baths range from $20 to $50, depending on breed.

Boarding and Vaccine Requirements:

Your dog or cat must be at least 16 weeks old but no older than 12 years old and current on the following vaccinations:

DOGS: Rabies, Distemper 5 in 1 (DHLPP), Bordetella. 

CATS:  Rabies, FVPCP, Feline Leukemia.

We are unable to board animals that are aggressive towards humans or other animals.  If your pet has any medical condition or takes medication please provide us with the details at time of booking your reservation.  Thanks!

Payment is expected at drop-off by Visa, Mastercard, Amex,  Discover or cash.  Sorry, we no longer accept personal checks.

Office Hours & Drop-off / Pick-up times:

MONDAY THRU FRIDAY: 8am - 1pm & 4pm - 6pm

SATURDAY: 8am - 1pm

SUNDAY: 5:30pm - 6pm

CHECK-OUT TIME IS 1PM.  Day-boarding rate of $25 will be charged for afternoon pick-ups.   After hours pick-ups may be arranged by appointment for a $20 service charge.

Our office is closed on holidays.  However, we have staff members on duty to care for your pets.  Our facility also has an onsite night manager in case of an emergency.

You may drop in to see our facility Monday thru Saturday from 10:30am - 12:30pm.
